Friday the 13th

Nung bata pa ko, tanda ko pang paboritong libangan namin ang horror stories at kung ano-ano pang urban legends. Pagkatapos lang naman eh halos hindi na kami makaalis sa umpukan namin dahil sa apektado na kami ng inumpisahan naming kalokohan. Hehehe!

At dahil nga Friday the 13^th yesterday, naalala ko na naman ang kalokohan ko. Maraming nagsasabi na “unlucky” nga daw ang day na to. According to Historians:

* In numerology, the number twelve is considered the number of completeness, as reflected in the twelve months of the year, twelve recognized signs of the zodiac, the twelve tribes of Israel, the twelve Apostles of Jesus, etc., whereas the number thirteen was considered irregular, transgressing this completeness.[2] There is also a superstition, thought by some to derive from the Last Supper, that having thirteen people seated at a table will result in the death of one of the diners.

* Friday, as the day on which Jesus Christ was crucified, has been viewed both positively and negatively among Christians. The actual day of Crucifixion was the 14th day of Nisan in the Hebrew Lunar calendar which does not correspond to "Friday" in the solar calendar of Rome. The 15th day of Nissan (beginning at Sundown) is celebration of Passover.

Due to the large number of events that happen in the world, a similar list could be compiled for any combination of day of the month and day of the week.

* The Black Friday bushfires in Victoria, Australia occurred on Friday, January 13, 1939.

* The Uruguayan Rugby team infamously crashed in the Andes mountain range on Friday, 13 October 1972

* Hurricane Charley made landfall near Port Charlotte, Florida on Friday, August 13, 2004.

* The "Friday the 13th Storm" struck Buffalo, New York on October 13, 2006.

* UNIX time will reach 1,234,567,890 decimal seconds on February 13, 2009 at 23:31:30 GMT.

* The asteroid 99942 Apophis will make its close encounter on Friday, April 13, 2029.

Well, dahil bata pa nga, madaling mapaniwala or maimpluwensiyahan ng mga ganitong bagay. It’s a superstition. Pero madami pa rin naaakpetuhan. Naalala ko pa na nagkayayaan kaming mag ghost hunt ng mga college friends ko. Luma na kasi ang mga buildings sa amin and may usap usapan din noon na yung campus ay dating mini hospital (Doctors kasi ang mga may-ari ng schools). Merong extension rooms na sa sobrang luma ay sira sira na ang kisame at maingay na ang mga kahoy na sahig. Last class namin noon ay matatapos ng 7 pm. That time madilim na talaga and medyo gloomy na ang mga classrooms. May nag-aya na dumaan sa library. Our Library was known as “hunted” then, may portrait kasi dun ng namatay na President ng school na nakatapat sa may window. Hehehe.. Mga malakas mag-aya wala naman pumatol..hehehe takot kami eh.. saka dahil malas nga baka kung anong mangyari sa amin.

Wala naman scientific proof kung bakit ganun pero ganunpaman marami pa rin naniniwala dito.

I’m with my boyfriend yesterday which was Friday the 13^th nga… Ok n asana. We were both laughing then. Todo asaran pa nga while strolling at the mall. Nang biglang…

Powtek! Ang aking monthly visitor ay biglang bumulusok nang walang sabi sabi! Ayun, I had to go to the supermarket at bumili ng “sandwhich”. Hehehe!!

Quite, coincidence. Pero ok lang hindi ko naman siya iniisip na malas yung day for me. We had fun naman. (=
